Ireland’s offshore wind ambitions are alive and kicking. Delivering up to 20 GW by 2040 demands a clear shift from ambition to execution.

The publication of the Wind Energy Ireland Offshore Wind Action Plan in 2025 set out practical steps to remove barriers and strengthen investor confidence, while the establishment of the Taoiseach’s Offshore Wind Energy Clearing House signals a whole-of-government commitment to removing these barriers and accelerate delivery.

Phase One projects are progressing through the planning system, with key upcoming planning decisions expected to provide critical clarity for the first wave of developments. Work is advancing on a National DMAP to provide a coordinated, long-term spatial framework for offshore wind, and attention is firmly fixed on the next steps for the Li Ban site in the South Coast DMAP.

Infrastructure will be decisive. Grid delivery timelines, port readiness, supply chain capacity and the pace of electricity demand growth — driven by electrification, industry and large energy users — will determine how quickly offshore projects can connect and scale.

All tickets must be paid in full by credit card at the time of booking.

Academia rates are available to those employed full-time or studying full-time at an academic institution. A valid current academic ID is required at registration.

Discounted rates are also available for Affiliated members of Energy Storage Ireland, Ireland Electrified, and Renewables NI.
